BNE>MEL: Qantas Boeing 767
Into Brisbane to finish off
I had to be up at 4.20am this morning in order to make QF615 from Cairns to Brisbane. I upgraded to business class so that I could get a sleep on the plane and it was well worth it.
We dropped luggage off at Country Comfort Lennons Hotel and then headed to the offices that our sessions were being held at today. We had a pretty interesting day – and then I went shopping at lunchtime.
During one of the sessions I got a call from SWSAHS and arranged a telephone interview for the generalist health promotion job for next Thursday afternoon. Wish me luck.
After the sessions (our last) we headed back to Lennons and I picked up my bag and then went to the Marriott Brisbane. Great room, great view. I showered, did some work and then headed back to Lennons for our graduation dinner. Interesting time was had by all I think.
After the dinner, everyone when upstairs to room 903 where we had one final drink before heading home. Was a reasonably emotional time, because this group has been together for ages. But we have agreed to meet up once a year for a refresher. The first was due to be held in Christchurch, but looks more likely it will be held on one of the eastern seaboard cities to be more economical.
Back into Cairns again
I don’t want to talk about 911 today. Everyone else did but I don’t think we should keep encouraging it. Instead today was the end of the program on Thursday Island and we headed back to Cairns via Qantaslink.
We were up reasonably late for once and had sessions on the island before checking in at the local Travel Centre office for QF2493 from Thursday Island to Cairns (via Horn Island). It is an interesting experience boarding your flight via a boat.
When got back to Cairns had a bus transfer to Holiday Inn Cairns. We then went out to dinner at Yamagen. A great restaurant (even though half the group couldn’t navigate the menu and decided to bolt).
Tried to get to bed early because we have a very early start in the morning.
