Woke up to breakfast on the VA flight (breakfast after 10 hours on a plane never seems very appealing). As we headed into Sydney I watched The Grey (admittedly very superficially with a few periods of dozing off). Overall the flight went pretty well – I managed to get at least a few hours sleep thanks to Unisom – but reports of the older leather seats in premium economy on the VA being a little hard on the butt are totally founded. I found myself fidgeting an enormous amount trying to get comfortable.
When we landed in SYD it didn’t take too long to get through Customs and Quarantine and soon I was out waiting for a taxi to take me home. It always helps to be the first flight to land and I was one of the first people at the border and got waived through without screening.
The drive down the M5 was uneventful at that time and it was good to be home but I headed straight out to get some real breakfast.
It has been a very productive trip – but I am very glad not to have to be back in the office until Monday. Hopefully they will leave me alone.
